Popular Dietary Models

Nutritional therapy is not about 'diets'. It is about long-lasting dietary and lifestyle change with health as its goal. It is a journey, not a destination.

Here is a list of popular dietary models. This is a reference list, not a recommendation list. As your nutritionist, I will work to determine the best approach for you, appropriate for your health conditions, with a weight loss programme where required.

What is the difference between a nutritionist and a dietician?

Nutritionists, or nutritional therapists, consult with individuals on a private basis and those that have completed accredited qualifications can apply to the register of nutritionists with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) and British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT).

Dieticians require a BSC Hons in Dietetics which qualifies them to work within the NHS, government and public relations. Dietician is a protected title regulated by law.

Both dieticians, and nutritionists that have completed accredited courses, are well-qualified to advise on nutrition, having both received training in foundation biomedicine, applied nutrition and supervised clinical experience.
