Do you know why you should ditch your alarm-clock? Are you aware of the wondrous benefits of red light at sunrise and sunset? Do you experience the seasons?
Should we be using artificial light at all? Do you know why we all go to bed too late and wake up too late? Do we look out enough at the views anymore? What is your evening routine? What is your morning routine?
Do we need to get comfortable with darkness again? Has the full moon lost its job? Why do we need caffeine first thing in the morning? Do you know the risks to your health of doing night shifts? Did you know it is NOT a coincidence that the length of the menstrual cycle matches the lunar cycle?
Do you look after your eyes? Do we ever look at the stars anymore? Are we exhausting ourselves with screens? Do we realise how much are bodies are missing the dark? Is artificial light any kind of replacement for sunlight?
All of these questions and many more form the basis of a new special programme Circadian Therapies, which is a practical course exploring our body and its relationship with light and darkness.
Artificial light has been linked to obesity and weight distribution, and metabolic dysfunction, including diabetes. It is also strongly linked to sleep disorders and depression.
This programme is an education in the importance of sleep-wake cycles and light-dark equilibriums. It is practical in its nature asking you to make changes to your days and your nights.
This structured programme, including some residential weekends, will begin on a Summer Solstice and run through until the Winter Solstice. It will take you on an eye-opening journey, where you will venture out into the light and embrace the darkness, and as we gradually transition from longest day to shortest day, you will reattune, rewire and rewind your body-clock to unlock your true self.
Register your interest in this body-clock support course, Circadian Therapies. This instructional programme will offer you practical advice for recorrecting and reconnecting with your natural timepiece.
Course dates TBC.
